Why Aftercare Matters
The First 24 Hours Are Critical
Immediately After Treatment (0–6 Hours)
Dos
- Leave the serum residue on your skin. Your aesthetician at Doctors Space applies a final layer of treatment serums and SPF after the Hydra Facial. Do not wash your face for at least 4–6 hours to allow maximum absorption.
- Apply a gentle, broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen if you will be exposed to sunlight. Your freshly exfoliated skin is more photosensitive, making sun protection non-negotiable.
- Drink plenty of water. Internal hydration supports the external hydration delivered by the Hydra Facial. Aim for 8–10 glasses of water throughout the day.
- Use a clean silk or satin pillowcase if you plan to sleep soon after the treatment. These materials create less friction against your skin than cotton, helping to preserve the treatment results.
Don'ts
- Do not wash your face with any cleanser for at least 4–6 hours post-treatment. The treatment serums need time to fully absorb into the freshly exfoliated skin.
- Do not apply makeup for at least 6 hours (ideally 12–24 hours). Makeup brushes and sponges can introduce bacteria into freshly opened pores, and many cosmetic products contain ingredients that can irritate newly exfoliated skin.
- Do not touch your face with unwashed hands. Your freshly treated skin is more susceptible to bacterial contamination in the hours immediately after the Hydra Facial.
- Do not exercise vigorously for 12–24 hours. Heavy sweating can irritate the freshly treated skin and may cause stinging or redness.
Days 1–3 Post-Treatment
Skincare Routine
- Cleanser: Use a gentle, sulfate-free, pH-balanced cleanser (pH 5.0–5.5). Avoid foaming cleansers with sodium lauryl sulfate or any exfoliating cleansers containing AHAs, BHAs, or scrubbing particles.
- Toner: If you use a toner, choose an alcohol-free, hydrating formula. Avoid astringent toners that contain high concentrations of alcohol or witch hazel.
- Serum: This is the time to apply your best hydrating serum — ideally one containing hyaluronic acid to reinforce the hydration delivered during the Hydra Facial. Vitamin C serums are also excellent during this window when absorption is maximized.
- Moisturizer: Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to lock in hydration. Ceramide-based moisturizers are particularly beneficial as they support the skin barrier.
- Sunscreen: Non-negotiable. Apply SPF 30+ every morning and reapply every 2–3 hours if you are outdoors. This is critical in Gujranwala where UV index regularly exceeds 8 during summer months.
What to Avoid
- Retinol and retinoids: Pause retinol products for 3–5 days post-treatment. The combination of freshly exfoliated skin and retinol can cause excessive irritation, redness, and peeling.
- Exfoliating acids: Avoid AHAs (glycolic acid, lactic acid), BHAs (salicylic acid), and PHAs for at least 3–5 days. Your skin has already been professionally exfoliated — more exfoliation at this stage is counterproductive and damaging.
- Direct sun exposure: Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 48 hours. If you must be outdoors, wear a broad-brimmed hat in addition to your SPF 30+ sunscreen.
- Hot water: Wash your face with lukewarm water only. Hot water can strip the skin's natural oils and irritate freshly treated skin.
- Saunas and steam rooms: Avoid for at least 48 hours. Excessive heat and steam can cause inflammation and dilate blood vessels unnecessarily.
Swimming Pool Warning
Days 4–7 Post-Treatment
- Day 4–5: You may resume using retinol or retinoid products if they are part of your regular routine. Start with a lower concentration or every-other-night application to ease your skin back in.
- Day 5–7: You may resume gentle chemical exfoliation (low-percentage AHAs or BHAs) if needed. Continue to prioritize hydration and sun protection.
- Day 7: You may resume all normal skincare products and treatments. Your skin should be fully recovered and still benefiting from the Hydra Facial's effects.

Hydra Facial Aftercare for Gujranwala's Climate
Doctors Space Pro Tip
Signs Your Skin Needs Its Next Session
- Dullness returns: Your skin loses the radiant glow achieved after the previous session
- Pores become visible: Blackheads and clogged pores begin to reappear, particularly on the nose and chin
- Texture changes: Skin feels rougher or less smooth to the touch
- Product absorption decreases: Your regular skincare products seem less effective
- Dehydration signs: Fine lines become more visible, skin feels tight or looks crepey
Consistency is the key to skin health. A single Hydra Facial is a great treatment, but a series of regular sessions is a transformation. Patients who commit to monthly Hydra Facials at Doctors Space see dramatically better long-term results than those who treat it as a one-time event.— Aesthetics team, Doctors Space Gujranwala
